Is their friendship a Trainwreck?! Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence, Hollywood’s funniest BFFs, are set to compete at the 2016 Golden Globes in the category for Best Actress in a comedy. Will this tear them apart? HollywoodLife.com has the scoop.
Funny buddies Amy Schumer, 34, and Jennifer Lawrence, 25, have been defining friendship goals ever since they stomped on Billy Joel’s piano to “Uptown Girls.” With successful careers under their belts, the two have coincidentally BOTH been nominated for Golden Globe awards in the very same category: Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. Will the competition ruin their girl squad?! Keep reading to find out.
As if competing barefoot for “Best Dance Moves” on top of a piano wasn’t enough, this dream team is going head to head for an even grander prize! Amy, nominated for Trainwreck and J-Law, nominated for Joy, are duking it out for the coveted Golden Globes trophy. As a result, Amy claims their friendship is totally done now.
“As soon as I saw that we were both nominated, I took her right out of my phone because our friendship is obviously over,” Amy joked to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s really every woman for herself at this point, and I don’t want her to kind of get in my head, you know?” Amy clearly knows that it’s game time! We LOVE how organic and amazing the friendship between these two A-listers is. Jennifer revealed in Aug. that “I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’” Jennifer continued. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.” That turned into vacationing together and then a collaboration on a screenplay!
“Amy and I were creatively made for each other,” Jennifer told the New York Times. “We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up.” We totally cannot wait to see these two on screen together!
The 2016 Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air on NBC on Jan. 10, 2016. HollywoodLifers, will you be watching to see if it’s Jennifer or Amy who snags the award?!
