Melissa Rivers was always her mother Joan’s spitting image, and now she is actually playing her iconic mom in Jennifer Lawrence’s new film ‘Joy.’ Who is better to portray the legendary comedian that the person that knew her the best?! You’ve got to check out this clip!
Talk about a genius casting idea! Melissa Rivers, 47, is portraying her late mother Joan in the highly anticipated awards season contender Joy, starring none other than Jennifer Lawrence, 25. The Fashion Police host absolutely kills it in her scene with Oscar winner J-Law, and we can’t wait to see more from the pair!
Melissa Rivers has scored the role of a lifetime and one she was literally born to play. She’s starring opposite Jennifer and Bradley Cooper as her mom in her QVC heyday for the new David O. Russell film Joy, a biopic about the Long Island housewife who invented the Miracle Mop. We are LOVING her scene interacting with J-Law’s character Joy Mangano, who she sizes up in typical Joan style about Joy’s terrible fashion sense.
In the newly released clip from the film, Jen’s character is about to make her QVC debut to sell her Miracle Mop, but at the last-minute she does a wardrobe change into a boring white blouse and black pants, saying, “That’s who I am. I want to go on as me” as QVC president Bradley is aghast. Melissa then comes around the corner and gets an introduction, telling Jen, Wow, you look great. Good luck today. She should be in a skirt, she’s got nice long legs, show her legs!” before walking off. It’s amazing!
Melissa totally nails her mom’s New York accent, 1980’s blonde bob hair and her chunky jewelry. This is absolute casting brilliance, because really, there is no one else who could ever capture Joan’s magic other than her only daughter. Get Joan’s final book “Diary Of A Mad Diva” by clicking here.
