Billie Lourd may not be playing Princess Leia’s daughter in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ but she’s certainly taking her style cues from her own mother! There’s something very familiar about that hairdo!
Billie Lourd‘s costume for Star Wars: The Force Awakens harkens back to her real-life mother, Carrie Fisher‘s, costume from the original trilogy — those iconic cinnamon roll hair buns! Though Billie’s not playing Leia’s daughter, you can’t deny the similarities here!
Like mother, like daughter, right? There’s no word yet on who Billie, 23, is playing in the most highly anticipated movie of, let’s say…ALL TIME, but thankfully we were able to catch a glimpse of her costume, thanks to People magazine. The outfit itself gives off zero hints to what her character may be, but we’re really focused on that hairdo. It’s subtle, but it’s there; parted down the middle with baby buns on each side of her head, it’s not necessarily the massive cinnamon buns her mom rocked in 1979, but it’s quite a throwback!
Billie has confirmed, after lots of prodding, that she is not playing Princess Leia’s daughter, nor is she playing the young version of Princess (now General) Leia. But being Carrie’s kid has trained her well for the Star Wars universe! The Scream Queens star has been waiting her whole life to get a shot at being a young Padawan.
“I made [my mom] watch [Star Wars: A New Hope] at least once a week – and on special occasions I would make her get in a lightsaber fight with me,” Billie said. “Let’s just say the more trained Jedi usually won.” Billie shouldn’t feel bad about that; by the time she was born, her mom had fought in three movie’s worth of galactic battles, killed a giant space slug and kissed her share of scruffy nerfherders. It’s all in the family business!
Billie’s already killed it for months on Scream Queens as Chanel No. 3, and now she’ll (officially) be part of one of the biggest films of all time. No exaggeration there; it’s not even in theaters yet and has already broken box office records around the world! Billie’s face and baby buns were spotted briefly in the last TV spot for Force Awakens, which aired on ABC during the Shondaland block on November 12. She’s seen sitting at a command center of sorts, as iconic characters like C-3PO, Han Solo — and General Leia — join her!
