So touching. Although Joey Feek’s cancer continues to worsen, she and her husband, Rory, cried happy tears on Dec. 7. The two found out they were nominated for a Grammy Award, and they were able to share in the special moment together. See Rory’s sweet message below.
Joey Feek, 40, is sadly seeing her final days as she battles terminal cancer, but on Dec. 7, she and her husband, Rory Feek, 49, got some fantastic news amidst her medical struggle. The couple, better known as country duo Joey + Rory, received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song “If I Needed You.” As Joey fights for her life, she and Rory couldn’t help but cry tears of joy over their accomplishment, and he took to Facebook to share their bittersweet excitement.
“…woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of ‘If I Needed You’ was nominated for a Grammy,” Rory wrote on Joey and Rory’s official Facebook page. “As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, ‘how can that be?’ The song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born.” He ended his heartfelt post with, “God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
As Rory mentioned in his post, the couple wrote the Grammy-nominated single in honor of their daughter. Although Joey is now in hospice care and can hardly get out of bed due to her terminal illness, she was able to celebrate the incredible honor with Rory and Indiana right along side her. We can only imagine what an extremely emotional moment that was for their family.
Joey and Rory are up against Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Brothers Obsorne, and Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley, and Eric Paslay in their respective category. We hope to not only see their song win on Feb. 15, but also to see Joey’s health hang on in order for her to witness such an amazing achievement.
HollywoodLifers, send your congratulations to Joey and Rory for their Grammy nomination and your thoughts to the couple as Joey continues her battle with cancer.
