There was clearly only one thing missing from NBC’s The Wiz Live! Ryan Gosling, 35, showed off his comedic chops in a brilliant skit for SNL on Dec. 6, in which he acted out a fake deleted scene from the musical with a number of cast members. In a nutshell, it was SO FUNNY!
The handsome actor performed a masterful impression of Ray Bolger, the original Scarecrow from the ’80s musical movie, alongside Sasheer Zamata, Kenan Thompson, Jay Pharoah, Michael Che and Leslie Jones in the hilarious sketch that just has to be seen. He was so cute!
Watch Ryan’s Scarecrow get lost while traveling from West Oz and end up alongside the rest of The Wiz cast in East Oz. After Ryan performs “If I Only Had A Brain,” Kenan, who plays the Cowardly Lion, is quick to tell the Scarecrow that “this Oz is not for you.”
“I didn’t think it would be, but now that I’m here it’s really great. There’s so much color,” the Scarecrow happily replies before his castmates try to dissuade him. “No, no. I just meant in the world. There’s a lot of heart and soul here. It’s much better than where I’m from,” the Scarecrow continues, justifying his statement.
Ryan’s Scarecrow then goes on to say how he and his friends defeated the Wicked Witch. His story works in his favor because the East Oz crew begins to accept him. Cue the group rallying together to do the “dab” as they all dance hilariously in unison.
Ryan’s hosting gig on SNL also included an alien abduction sketch, in which Ryan just couldn’t keep a straight face. In fact, he can be seen laughing in the background right in the middle of the skit! Catch up on SNL on Amazon now!
