Tashfeen Malik reportedly posted a message on Facebook under an alias pledging her allegiance to ISIS’ leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghadi before going on a shooting rampage and killing 14 people with her husband, Syed Farook. He reportedly became distant and abruptly stopped going to his mosque three weeks before the shooting.
Even more news is unfolding as to why Tashfeen Malik, 27, and Syed Farook, 28, opened fire at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif., on Dec. 2 and authorities have reportedly discovered ties to ISIS. Investigators are currently at the rental home that Tashfeen and Syed lived in and they have reportedly found 5,000 bullets, 12 pipe bombs and parts to make IEDs. Tashfeen, who was on a 90 day K-1 fiancee visa, has reportedly reached out to members of al Qaeda before the massacre.
Although ISIS has not claimed responsibility for this shooting spree carried out by Tashfeen and Syed, a report claims that there are ties to ISIS. Authorities have seized their cell phones and computers and allegedly found a Facebook account under a different name which belonged to Tashfeen. It was on this account that authorities reportedly found a Facebook post in which she pledged her loyalty to ISIS and its leader, Abu Bakr al-Bagghadi. The Daily Mail also claims that “a US intelligence official revealed that Farook was in touch by phone and through social media with multiple international terrorism subjects who were under FBI scrutiny.”
It’s thought that perhaps Tashfeed radicalized her husband who up to that point was reportedly a mild mannered man. Even his brother, Syed Rizwan Farook, was a decorated Navy veteran. Some reports claim that Syed got into a fight with a Messianic Jewish co-worker, left the holiday party and then came back with his wife and opened fire. They were reportedly wearing “tactical gear” and had two assault rifles and handguns.
They fired off around 75 rounds during the initial shooting. They also left three pipe bombs in the building but the remote allegedly malfunctioned. A few hours later during their gun battle with police, they reportedly had more than 1,600 bullets on them, 3,000 rounds at their home and 12 pipe bombs. Not to mention tools that could be used to make more explosives.
