Blake Shelton received the ultimate country music honor at CMT’s Artists of the Year On Dec. 2 — but his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, was noticeably not seated in the audience. Is there trouble in paradise? Where the heck was she? HollywoodLife.com can tell you!
Don’t worry…Gwen Stefani has an explanation for not supporting her man, Blake Shelton, at the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony on Dec. 2! The singer took to Twitter to reveal why she couldn’t be in Nashville for the event, and don’t worry, it’s a valid excuse. Find out here!
When a fan asked Gwen if she was in Nashvile, where the country singer was for the AOTY event, she responded, “on my way to ny to do radio and Fallon,” with a bunch of emojis. Womp womp! Unfortunately, the 46-year-old clearly had prior commitments to do press in the Big Apple, so it makes sense that she didn’t have time for a pitstop in Tennessee.
It was an exciting night for Blake, regardless, though. He was one of just five artists who received the AOTY honor this year, and was recognized by his former Voice contestants, Cassadee Pope and Raelynn, as well as Darius Rucker, with a cute performance of his hit “Neon Light” during the ceremony. Even though Gwen couldn’t be there, we know she was totally proud!
And the feeling is mutual — Blake has made it clear just how happy he is over his lady’s success. “She deserves it,” he gushed, regarding the hype over Gwen’s new song “Used To Love You.” If you go through whatever she went through to write that song, at least she’s getting something good and positive out of it.” You can buy the song RIGHT HERE.
Meanwhile, the loving couple just can’t help but show their affection for one another during commercial breaks on The Voice lately. During the Nov. 30 episode, an eyewitness told us that the singers “couldn’t stop smiling at each other” when the cameras weren’t filming, and they even flaunted some sweet PDA. Ugh, so sweet!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Blake and Gwen are a good couple? Do you think she should’ve showed up to his Artists of the Year honor?
