The claws are out! Remember when Erykah Badu totally dissed Iggy Azalea’s rap career at the 2015 Soul Train Awards? Well, Iggy is finally firing back at the singer, and as expected, she is NOT holding back. See her tweet here!
Come on, you didn’t think Iggy Azalea, 25, was really going to let this one slide did you? After being dissed by Erykah Badu, 44, during her opening monologue at the 2015 Soul Train Awards on Nov. 29, Iggy has finally taken to Twitter to hit back at the singer, calling the whole situation “f-king hell.” Yikes! See her full response below!
The Australian rapper returned to Twitter on Dec. 1 after taking a brief hiatus to call out those questioning her career, and as expected, she was anything but timid when it came to defending herself. “Hi guys I know its been a while,” she began. “We are days from 2016, but i came online today and saw its still cool to try and discredit my 2014 accomplishments. LOL, f—king hell. Seems exhausting. Anyway – Ive been enjoying the holiday season and I hope you all have too.”
In case you forgot, the drama started when Erykah dissed Azalea at the 2015 Soul Train Awards on Nov. 29. In her opening monologue at the Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena, Erykah pretended to call up celebrities and invite them to the show. The diss was meant to emphasize that rap was more or less “banned” from the Soul Train Awards because the show focuses on R&B artists.“Uh yes? Who is this? Iggy Azalea?” Erykah said in her monologue. “Yeah, hey. Oh no no no no, you can come, ’cause what you doin’ is definitely not rap.”
The crowd instantly went wild over the diss, but clearly, Iggy was not impressed. To be fair though, this also wasn’t the first time that Iggy has had to defend herself after being publicly slammed at an awards show. Nicki Minaj notoriously threw shade at Iggy at the 2014 BET Awards by insinuating that Iggy didn’t write her own songs. And who could forget the countless other times she’s been called out on social media (Snoop Dogg, Azealia Banks, we’re looking at you). Honestly, can’t we all just get along?!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Iggy was right to hit back at Erykah, or should she have just let this one go?
