Somebody call Steve Urkel! A ‘Family Matters’ reunion is taking place on Lifetime. Reginald VelJohnson and Jo Marie Payton — aka Carl and Harriette Winslow — will reunite for the holiday movie, ‘The Flight Before Christmas.’
Carl and Harriette are back! It has been over 15 years since Reginald VelJohnson, 69, and Jo Marie Payton, 65, appeared on screen together. But the stars of the hit 90’s sitcom, Family Matters, are teaming up for a special holiday event! Now all we need is a cameo by Jaleel White, 39.
Reginald and Jo Marie will appear in the Lifetime holiday movie, The Flight Before Christmas, on Dec. 5, reports E! News. The two haven’t played husband and wife since the last season of Family Matters. In fact, Judyann Elder actually replaced Jo Marie for the show’s final seven episodes in 1998.
The Flight Before Christmas also features another 90s television star, as the former Blossom, Mayim Bialik, stars alongside Ryan McPartlin. Together, the play two holiday travelers stranded in Montana after their Christmas Eve red-eye flight is diverted. Something tells us that somebody learns the true meaning of the season before the move is done!
Since the end of Family Matters, Jo Marie voiced Suga Mamma Proud on Disney’s Proud Family. While Reginald is also known for starring in the Christmas classic movie, Die Hard, he has also appeared in Hart of Dixie and Mike & Molly. If you want to relive the 90’s, you can watch every single Family Matters episode on Amazon.
Family Matters was a staple of the TGIF block of programming, and with another TGIF show — Full House — getting a revival, is there a chance that Family Matters could also get a new show? Is it possible to see Steve Urkel again? We’ll have to cross our fingers. In the meantime, the next best thing will be seeing Carl and Harriette in The Flight Before Christmas when it airs at 8 p.m. on Dec 5 on Lifetime.
