Zayn Malik is setting the record straight in a new interview about the end of his relationship with Perrie Edwards. Slamming rumors that he broke off their engagement via text, Zayn made it clear that there’s NO way he would ever do that to the woman he loved!
What kind of person would break up with their fiancée through a text message? Zayn Malik, 22, is livid that rumors spread he ended his engagement with Perrie Edwards, 22, by telling her the bad news in a text, instead of sitting her down face-to-face. Zayn told Fader‘s December 2015/January 2016 issue, in a lengthy interview, that he wants everyone to know that he’s not that kind of person.
“If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative,” Zayn told Fader. “I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message. I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that. She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”
What a relief to know that this isn’t what happened between Zayn and Perrie! The Little Mix singer was obviously crushed by the end of her engagement, but it’s a lot better knowing she didn’t have to go through the agony of finding out through cruel text. How heartbreaking would that have been? !
Zayn also addresses the rumors that his departure from One Direction had something to do with the cheating rumors happening at the same time. Not the case, he told Fader! You might remember he was photographed holding hands with a woman named Lauren Richardson; a Swedish model also claimed to have slept with him.
But the cheating rumors weren’t what made him leave 1D. “The two things never really coincided in my mind,” he told the mag. “Obviously, publicly, that’s the way it worked, because it worked well for the purpose. Them two stories looked good together side by side.”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Perrie and Zayn should get back together? Tell us in the comments!
