New York City’s mayor Bill de Blasio is firing back at ISIS after the terrorist group circulated a video on Nov. 18, which hinted at a possible attack on the Big Apple. In a statement provided to HollywoodLife.com, the mayor said the city ‘will not be intimated’ and ‘won’t live in fear.’
ISIS can’t scare the people of New York City. Despite the terrorist group hinting at a possible attack on the Big Apple in a video, which emerged on Nov. 18, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he won’t allow his community to be “intimated” by ISIS. To hear his statement and how the city is protecting itself against potential danger ahead, keep reading.
“Stoking fear is the goal of terrorist organizations, but New York City will not be intimidated. The NYPD is the most capable police force in the country, with a robust counterterrorism operation that was just strengthened with an investment of 500 additional officers. While Times Square and Herald Square appear in the video, the NYPD in conjunction with all of our partners are taking all necessary security precautions in these areas and areas across the City. New Yorkers won’t live in fear and people should continue to go to work, live their lives, and enjoy the greatest city in the world,” NYC Mayor De Blasio said in a statement provided to HollywoodLife.com.
“While some of the video footage is not new, the video reaffirms the message that New York City remains a top terrorist target,” Stephen Davis, a Deputy NYPD Commissioner, also said in a statement, according to Reuters. “While there is no current or specific threat to the city at this time, we will remain at a heightened state of vigilance.”
Since the Nov. 13 attacks on Paris, which killed 129 people, there have been numerous threats around the world, so everything, of course, is taken seriously. But the mayor just wants to assure people living in NYC that their safety is his main concern.
