Willow Shields may be known for her long braids in ‘The Hunger Games,’ but at the film’s L.A. premiere on Nov. 16, it was her perfectly undone beachy waves that really turned heads. Here, we break down her exact look and the products you’ll need to recreate it at home.
Willow Shields looked beyond beautiful as she stepped out for the L.A. premiere of The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part 2 on Nov. 16. The 15-year-old actress rocked a whimsical Naeem Khan embellished gown paired with perfectly undone waves that provided the perfect contrast to her feminine frock. Now, thanks to her hairstylist, Ryan Richman, we have a look at the exact products he used to create her gorgeous wear-anywhere ‘do. See how you can copy her exact red carpet look below!
Following the event, Ryan took to Instagram to post a photo of Willow’s stunning work, writing: “A windy night with @WillowShields at @TheHungerGames #mockingjaypart2 #premiere at #lalive!” The actress, who chopped 10 inches off her gorgeous mane to reveal a chic lob back in July, had hair glossy locks styled into effortless beach waves with the help of some amazing Kerastase products. The look was flawless and as it turns out, so easy to recreate!
Get Willow Shields’ Exact Beachy Waves Style
To get Willow’s exact look, start by prepping damp hair with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante to amp up your hair’s natural body and volume. Next, using the celeb-loved Harry Josh Pro Tools Hairdryer, use your fingers to rough dry the hair, focusing on the roots. For added volume, you can also flip your hair upside down or use your fingers to lift the hair 90 degrees from the scalp while blow drying.
Once the hair is nearly dry, mist the style with a thickening spray like Kérastase Spray à Porter, for extra hold. Then, using a round boar bristle brush, continue drying the strands, being careful not to overly brush the hair and to leave some natural texture.
Next, Ryan enhanced the natural wave of Willow’s hair with the Harry Josh Pro Tools 1 inch Curling Iron. Starting at the root of a 1″ section of hair, close the iron softly and slid it down the hair while bending it back and forth in opposite directions following the natural ‘S’ pattern in the hair. Continue doing that for your entire head, finishing each section with Matrix Style Link Perfect Volume Hairspray.
To finish the look, apply a dime-sized amount of Kerastase Short Mania Semi-Matte Paste to the finger tips and tousle the hair focusing at the roots to create a piecey look. Secure the look with Batiste Dry Shampoo for a matte, textured finish. We love this look for day or night and think it pairs just as well with a gorgeous designer gown and it does with laid-back denim. The options are endless!
