Though Khloe Kardashian cancelled her divorce with Lamar Odom, she revealed she didn’t really want to break up with him when she first filed! While talking to Ryan Seacrest, Khloe admitted it was ‘really hard’ for her to let go of Lamar, and that’s why she let the divorce ‘linger.’
It seemed like Khloe Kardashian, 31, and Lamar Odom, 36, were never going to get divorced. There’s a reason for that: Though Khloe pulled her divorce over Lamar’s medical crisis, she revealed in a new interview that she actually didn’t want to go through the divorce when it initially happened.
“When I first filed for divorce, it was one too many times of Lamar either not following through with rehab or one of our interventions,” Khloe told Ryan Seacrest during the Nov. 16 episode of On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “Everyone kept saying to me, ‘you have to use the divorce card,’ and that’s what will get him to finally make a decision.”
“I did that and when it didn’t work, I was like ‘Okay,'” Khloe said. “I don’t know if I really wanted that divorce, so at first, it was really hard for me to let go and I kinda let it linger.” And linger it did! Even though Khloe filed for divorce in 2013, she and Lamar didn’t sign the documents necessary to finalize their split until July 2015.
Khloe said that sit took about a year of secret and not-so-secret messages for Lamar to get his act together that she had enough. “I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t deserve this. He’s not even trying. Why am I the one doing all this work?'” Khloe said. “So I think I was finally getting closure on my own that this wasn’t going to work out, [that] he doesn’t have the capacity to fight for himself let alone to fight for us. And I finally had, I think, comfort in knowing that.”
Since that comfort and “closure,” Khloe has been able to move on to bigger and better things. She has a new love with her boyfriend, James Harden, who has been incredibly supportive of Khloe during Lamar’s crisis. “We’re great,” she told Ryan. “We’re awesome,” before she said “I’m actually going to see him next week” because she’s going to Houston for a book signing!
Are you surprised that Khloe didn’t really want to get divorce in the first place, HollywoodLifers? Do you think it’s still the right thing to do?
