Holy. Crap. Did ‘The Walking Dead’ just reveal whether or not Glenn survived falling into a walker hoard? Click inside for more details!
Something major just happened at the end of The Walking Dead‘s Nov. 15 episode. When Daryl (Norman Reedus) calls out to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) on the walkie talkie, is the person who responds actually Glenn (Steven Yeun)? Let’s examine the evidence.
WARNING: If you have not yet watched the Nov. 15 episode of The Walking Dead and you do NOT want to be spoiled, stop reading this right now. Seriously, you will have the very end of the episode spoiled for you if you keep reading.
Alright, admit it: the voice calling for help on the walkie talkie sounds like Glenn. And no, it’s not just blind hope tricking your ears or the desperate need to know if he survived persuading your opinion. It sounded like Glenn. To be fair, it sounded like a terrified and possibly seriously injured Glenn, but it still sounded like Glenn… and I can tell you that because I re-watched the scene at least five times.
Here’s what happens: Daryl, Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) are riding down the road towards Alexandria. Desperate to check in with their new hometown, Daryl calls for Rick on his walkie talkie. When no one answers he calls out again, and in return he gets what sounds like feedback and a muffled voice. Daryl is quick to ask whoever is on the line to repeat themselves, and a weak voice replies, “Help.” And again, just for good measure, it sounds like Glenn.
Plus, isn’t he the only other person besides Rick who still has a walkie? Oh, and to make matters worse, the preview for the next episode (airing Nov. 22), takes us back to Alexandria… with no signs of Glenn anywhere.
In case you’ve missed a few episodes and have no idea why this is so important, many viewers believe that Glenn is dead. On the Oct. 25 episode, Glenn and Nicholas (Michael Traynor) get cornered by a mass amount of walkers that spawned off from the herd Daryl was leading away from Alexandria. Once Nicholas realizes there’s no way out he tells Glenn “thank you” and then puts his gun to his head and pulls the trigger to take his own life. However, when Nicholas’ lifeless body falls into the walkers below them it brings Glenn down, too, and the last shot we see is someone’s abdomen being torn apart as Glenn screams. Since that traumatic scene took place, the actor who portrays Glenn was removed from the show’s opening credits.
Up until the Nov. 15 episode where it sounds like Glenn is calling for help, that was the last time we saw him. If Glenn is, in fact, alive… he’s going to be pretty excited to get back to his wife, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who revealed she was pregnant on the Nov. 8 episode.
