The former Batman is finally talking about the new one. Ben Affleck is taking over as Batman in the new — and very different — ‘Batman V. Superman’ movies, but how does Christian Bale feel about that? Well, it may surprise you.
While promoting his new movie, The Big Short in Hollywood, California, everyone had a different movie in mind to ask Christian Bale about: Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. After starring in four Batman films, it’s no surprise everyone wanted to know his thoughts on the new cat in town: Ben Affleck. So, does he approve?
“I’m not thinking anything,” Christian, 41, told E! Online when asked about his thoughts on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “I’m sort of totally oblivious to it—I’ve removed myself but, um, you know, yeah, I mean, great…I’m happy to have to done it and I’m happy to see what someone else does with it.”
Now we do remember that when he decided to hang up the cape after his last movie in 2012, he did admit he’d feel a little “jealous” at first when thinking of someone else playing Batman, but did email Ben to offer “bits of advice that I learned the hard way.”
Entertainment Tonight reporters also asked him about fans hoping that Christian was still under that mask and cape after all. “I haven’t heard that. This is the first I’ve heard of it. I think it’s pretty clear that Ben is playing Batman now,” he said before adding. “No, it’s not happening.”
Watch his interview with E! below, and of course, let us know if you think Ben will be a good Batman or if ultimately, you’ll still miss Christian Bale? Are you excited for the new Batman?
