After Caitlyn Jenner spoke at an LGBT luncheon in Chicago, the reality star was confronted by screaming protestors from the trans community with megaphones outside of the event saying that Caitlyn was a disgrace to the LGBT community.
Caitlyn Jenner is one tough lady. The reality star spoke in front of 1,000 people at the 7th annual Speaker Series luncheon on Nov. 12 but when she left, things got ugly. The I Am Cait star was walking to her car when a group of angry protesters, who call themselves “I Ain’t Cait,” began screaming things like “you’re an insult to women” “you are an insult to trans people.” That’s when Cait walked straight up to them and confronted them.
Caitlyn, 65, whose camera crew was conveniently rolling for I Am Cait, walked up to one woman who was screaming on a megaphone and said she “loved” her and asked her nicely to “please stop.” But they continued and screamed that Caitlyn had never gone through the trials and tribulations that they had in their lives and that she was just a “rich, white woman.” The group posted on their Facebook page that they were upset that Chicago House, the organization that asked Caitlyn to speak at the event, had chosen her to represent the transgender community: “Who, you may ask, did they select to speak on the issues facing trans people and especially trans women in our city?” the group writes on their Facebook event page. “Caitlyn Jenner, who lives in a mansion and has a net worth of millions of dollars, while the average trans person has a 41 percent chance of experiencing homelessness and a nearly 50 percent chance of living off less than $10k per year.”
After Caitlyn’s exchange with the protesters did not work, she was then escorted away by her security team. An E! source tells Entertainment Tonight: “The group was outside when we showed up with Caitlyn. They weren’t as aggressive when we got there like they were when we left. We’ve been rolling all day. We were rolling when we arrived, inside the luncheon while she spoke to the group and when we left to follow Caitlyn to her car … We didn’t know Caitlyn was going to talk back to the protesters,” the source continues. None of it was staged.
