Tamar Braxton’s journey on Dancing With The Stars has come to an end. The Real host has been forced to withdraw from the competition because of a scary illness that was much worse than she originally thought. Read her emotional message here.
Although she performed on the Nov. 9 show after being rushed to the hospital, Tamar was very clearly not feeling well, and when she finally got the diagnosis from doctors afterward…things weren’t good. The singer took to Instagram Nov. 11 to share a sad photo of herself in the hospital — with partner, Val Chmerkovskiy by her side — and revealed to fans what was going on.
“With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of#dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem,” she wrote on Instagram. “After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs). As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one’s way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. .. And in TRUE#tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn’t the case. “
Tamar had been battling pneumonia for several weeks, and things really caught up ahead of Monday’s live show. She was admitted into the emergency room just hours before DWTS went live, and didn’t get back in time to perform her Contemporary dance with Val. However, she avoided a Kim Zolciak-style elimination by rushing back to perform her duo dance with Nick Carter, and based on scores and viewer votes from last week, she was pushed through.
Unfortunately, at that time, Tamar didn’t know just how severe her illness was, otherwise, perhaps, she would’ve withdrawn then and there to prevent Alexa Penavega from being eliminated. We know Tamar is a major fighter and did NOT want to have to do this, though, and she was doing literally everything she could to push through. We just hope she gets better soon! As for what will happen on Monday’s DWTS, host Tom Bergeron confirmed that producers are “looking at all possibilities.” Hmm…
