You know ‘Murder House’ was your favorite season — so tonight was probably your favorite ‘Hotel’ episode thus far.
When The Countess (Lady Gaga) wants something, she gets it: men, babies, a hotel. This week’s American Horror Story: Hotel gave us a glimpse at her real baby: her own little monster. And it all started in 1926, with the Countess arriving to a very familiar house to see Dr. Montgomery.
You may remember him from Murder House, where he performed abortions. The Countess was only three weeks pregnant at the time, yet looked ready to pop. However, he performed the abortion — but the baby survived. Remember when Iris (Kathy Bates) had said she had to “feed the thing in Room 33?” Well that’s Countess’ baby — Bartholomew.
But baby Bartholomew would be safe — thanks to Alex (Chloe Sevigny). This week, John (Wes Bentley) was woken up by his son, followed him to the sleeping chamber where found the coffins — and his wife sleeping in one. However, Alex tried to convince him it was all a vision, and he was having a break down. She even sent the two girls from the beginning of the season to scare him while trying to find their “purpose.” It scared him right out of the hotel — but Bartholomew got out and crawled into his suitcase. And home he went!
Yup, he brought it home back to Scarlett. What a great dad! He started shooting at whatever it was, and told police it was “monsters.” I mean literally Gaga had a little monster. Luckily, Alex found him, rescued him and brought him — and his very deformed face — back to room 33.
This week did have quite the tragic love story, too: between Tristan (Finn Wittrock) and Liz Taylor (Denis O’Hare). Yup, they were in love and I’m going to just say it — it’s kind of adorable. Naturally, they hid it from the Countess, who needed Tristan to help keep Will Drake sexually happy — oh yeah, and Will was in love with her. Are you following? When Liz did tell the Countess, she wasn’t thrilled; so they pretty much begged her, and she agreed . . . then slit Tristan’s throat and let him bleed out.
So we know he’ll still be there for the rest of his life, maybe hanging out with Sally (Sarah Paulson) who was noticeably absent this week. But the real question here is, could Bartholomew be the fourth child from Constance (Jessica Lange, Murder House)? She had said three of her four children had Downs Syndrome or “some other such malady,” and we never met the fourth. Just a thought…
