The buzz around the November 7 episode of ‘SNL’ may have been around Donald Trump, but the real star of the evening was Sia. Her insane performance of ‘Alive’ was nothing short of jaw-dropping. Donald who?
Sia took to the stage at Studio 8H On November 7 and performed the hell out of “Alive,” a song she first penned for Adele‘s new album, that was ultimately rejected. Backed by a choir and assisted by the incredible dancing of a martial artist, there’s no mistaking that Sia’s claimed the song for her own. And with that amazing performance, we wouldn’t want it any other way! Donald Trump may have been Saturday Night Live‘s host that night, but it looks like he was upstaged! Click through to watch!
Sia’s one of the most unique artists in the music industry right now, maybe ever, and she definitely proved her prowess on Saturday Night Live. Launching into “Alive,” a soaring ballad about perseverance and survival, Sia’s booming voice was the star of the performance.
That’s an incredible feat when you figure in the fact that Sia was wearing her trademark massive wig, and accompanied by a gifted dancer who often drew focus from the camera. Nope; that gorgeous voice was everything! But you can’t mention Sia without her insane creativity in her wardrobe and full demeanor. Who else could rock a strange, two-toned wig and still look fabulous?
She wore possibly the best interpretation of a pantsuit we’ve ever seen, a bright-blue number with an over-sized coat and a gigantic blue bow perched on top of her head. It was like Alice in Wonderland had a discussion with Hillary Clinton‘s stylist. Love it! In typical fashion, her dancer also wore the same wig, but opted for martial arts garments. She was lovely, but we do miss little Maddie Ziegler and her beige leotard, if not for the hilarious Kate McKinnon impression that would follow!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think about Sia’s performance? Tell us in the comments!
