Oh, baby! ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ girls are back and it’s almost too much to handle. The cast reunited for a special 20th anniversary screening of the movie — and of course, it resulted in epic selfies for everyone to enjoy.
Rachel Leigh Cook (Mary Anne) shared the most awesome selfie with Bre Blair (Stacey), Larisa Oleynik (Dawn) and Marla Sokoloff (Cokie) surrounding a Baby-Sitters Club movie reunion at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX (“It’s ON! #BSCreunion” she wrote). This pic — and others — has us experiencing some serious FOMO. Friends forever!
Inspired by Rachel, Marla Sokoloff posted a group shot on her own Instagram: “I’ve known these ladies for 20 years and I feel so lucky to share this special evening with them. #bscreunion @drafthouse #cokiemason”, she wrote. Along with Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn and Cokie, Schuyler Fisk (Kristy), Stacey Ramsower (Mallory) and Melanie Mayron (the director) are also in the pic. So cute:
The screening of the movie was followed by a Q&A with the director and stars. There was even a special cocktail menu with drinks like “The Kid Kit” (vodka, St. Germain, lemon, strawberries, sparkling wine) and the “Ann M. Martini” (light rum, pineapple syrup, fresh lime, Peychaud’s bitters). Obviously, that last one is particularly hilarious, because Ann M. Martin wrote the original series! Attendees were encouraged to dress up as their favorite character — which I guess means wearing your best ’90s garb.
For those who need a refresher, the original 1995 movie took from the first few books in the series. It followed Kristy and her best friends as they tried to turn their business, the Baby-Sitters Club, into a summer day camp. Mean grownups try to keep it from happening, but the girls prevail and keep the dream alive while battling personal challenges. In a word, it was perfection. The BSC girls were the coolest — they made their own money, expressed their individual style by the way they dressed (remember when Mary-Anne chopped her hair off?) and did EVERYTHING together. Kristy and the girls embodied true friendship and invented #squadgoals waaay before Taylor Swift showed up!
HollywoodLifers, did you read the BSC books or watch the movie?
