While Mindy struggles to take care of baby Leo because her mother-in-law is sick and Danny’s away, Peter shows up as an unexpected houseguest and adds more mayhem to the mix. Mindy almost misses an important presentation as a result!
While Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) is taking care of his dad in Los Angeles, Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) juggles work and watches Leo, and the stress is almost too much. Thanks to the help of a surprising individual, Mindy saves her financially-stressed fertility practice — but not before Peter Prentice (Adam Pally) appears on her doorstep for a surprise visit from Texas and almost ruins the whole thing.
It’s craziness as usual in Mindy’s world, and I found myself cringing along with her when Peter Prentice interrupts her much-deserved spa night after days of baby/work madness. As adorable as Adam Pally is, he’s totally nuts, though of course it’s fun to watch him disrupt the lives of everyone at Shulman & Associates, just like in the old days. As Peter meddles elsewhere, Mindy uses Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) as free labor per usual to help her prep for a giant presentation that will help her failing fertility practice…even though she’s stolen the idea from enemy doctor Jodi (Garret Dillahunt).
Jodi’s “Later, Baby” idea about freezing eggs is quite good, but Mindy’s refusal to work with him is justified by his sexist and close-minded attitude towards Mindy and other women and she has zero guilt about using his idea. In a whiplash of events, Mindy oversleeps because Peter is an idiot, Jodi saves Mindy’s presentation then starts to ruin it, then she saves it herself, then it turns out that Jodi is actually nice, then they sort of become friends. It’s all very confusing, but in a few words, Mindy makes an amazing speech and gains the trust of potential Later, Baby clients, so it’s all good. Plus, she opens up to Danny about how stressed she is after dancing around the subject all episode. Wins all around!
