One Direction’s new music video for ‘Perfect’ is well, PERFECT! But was it really inspired by Taylor Swift? The fellas just released a behind-the-scenes video of its making and we have to admit, the evidence is still pretty damning. Watch it here!
Any time One Direction announces the release of anything new, whether it’s a song or video, we can’t help but swoon. So it should come as surprise that’s exactly what we’re doing following the release of this special behind-the-scenes look at the making of the new music video for their hit single “Perfect. The boys appeared to have had an absolute blast filming in New York’s Times Square, goofing around at every opportunity. But does it confirm the ongoing Taylor Swift rumors? Find out here!
The video for “Perfect” is certainly one of the season’s best, and now the boys are giving us an inside look at the making of the sexy music video!
As Niall Horan, 22, explains, the “Perfect” video was inspired by what happens on their typical day off, spent in this case, hanging out inside a New York hotel room. Of course, there’s tons of smoldering gazes and time spent staring out windows, but our favorite moment has to be watching Harry Styles, 21, jokingly throw himself up against the hallway walls — too cute! The candid video also gives us a sneak peek inside Liam Payne’s, 22, grooming routine, which contrary to what is shown in the music video, does not includes baths. “I haven’t had a bath in ages,” he explains in the video. “I’m a shower man. Usually, I scrub-a-dub-dub in the shower.” Swoon!
Sadly, one thing that is not addressed in the behind-the-scenes video is the song’s rumored inspiration: Taylor Swift, 25. Fans were quick to note when the video was first released there were more than a few references to her and Harry’s famous relationship. For starters, the entire video takes place in New York City, where Taylor not only lives, but where the two also spent the most-publicized portion of their relationship. Then of course, there is the part where Liam is seen holding up a Polaroid photo, which is something Taylor herself referenced in the lyrics to her song “Out Of The Woods” — a track which is very clearly about her relationship with Harry.
However, the most damning piece of evidence has to be when Harry himself sings what is by and large the most obvious T-Swift reference: “If you like cameras flashing every time you go out and if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about.” The guys may be keeping mum on the topic, but if you ask us, all of this clearly points to the infamous Haylor relationship. Smooth, guys. Real, smooth.
What do YOU think of the behind-the-scenes video from “Best Song Ever,” HollywoodLifers? Are you still convinced it’s about Taylor?
