Lea Michele gave glossy retro waves a try at the 2015 AmfAR Inspiration Gala. The actress paired her curly locks with bronzed skin and neutral makeup, adding a splash of color with a strapless orange dress. Copy her waves, below!
There was nothing scary about Scream Queens star Lea Michele‘s beauty look on October 29 as she celebrated the show’s creator Ryan Murphy at the AmfAR gala. With her hair styled in impossibly shiny curls and parted to the side, the 29-year-old kept the look modern with her usual black liner-nude lipstick combo.

Lea’s hair may have had us thinking of Veronica Lake with her Old Hollywood waves, but stylist Nikki Lee gave the actress and singer’s look a bit of a modern twist by keeping her curls more undone — a styling decision that also makes the waves easier to recreate.
To get the look, on hair that’s dry, create a deep side part and use a clip to section off the top half of your hair. Mist the bottom section with a flexible hairspray like Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray to help your hair hold the curl without making it stiff. Use a brush to comb through the spray then working with one-inch sections of the hair, wrap it around a curling iron, spraying the finished curl with more hairspray.

Once you’ve curled your entire head, brush through the curls to create looser waves like Lea’s (if your hair really holds onto a curl, only wrap the mid-lengths to ends around the wand to avoid a heavily curled look). Finish with a mist of shine spray like Wella EIMI Glam Mist, which will give hair a glossy look like Lea’s while protecting your style from humidity.
