Lamar Odom Off Dialysis & Won’t Need A Kidney Transplant

Great news for Lamar Odom! His kidneys have improved so much over the last few days that he’s been taken off dialysis and won’t need a kidney transplant after all. This is a miracle considering doctors were convinced he would need a transplant, according to reports.

Lamar Odom, 35, has made one major stride in his recovery. His kidneys, which have been of the utmost concern for the former NBA star in his ongoing recovery, are on the mend. He’s reportedly off dialysis and will not be needing the kidney transplant that many believed was inevitable. Lamar continues to go above and beyond what’s been expected since his terrifying Oct. 13 hospitalization. To hear more about Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

Lamar is off 6 hours of daily dialysis and a kidney transplant won’t be needed to save his kidneys as of Oct. 30, TMZ reports. Just in the last 48 hours, Lamar’s kidneys have recovered so well that he’s been moved out of the ICU where he was getting dialysis in a private room.

Lamar’s kidneys were the biggest hurdle for the former LA Lakers player. Only days before he was taken off dialysis, doctors feared that he would have to undergo a kidney transplant in order to save his life. Doctors are reportedly very surprised that his kidneys have made such a drastic improvement so quickly.

HollywoodLife.com learned EXCLUSIVELY from top urologist Dr. S. Adam Ramin of the Urology Cancer Specialists in Los Angeles that Lamar’s kidneys would likely make a full recovery given time. “A healthy person like Lamar should regain function normal kidney function and get off dialysis, so he won’t be on dialysis for the rest of his life,” Dr. Ramin said.

Nevertheless, Khloe Kardashian and the rest of his loved ones have been so worried about Lamar. We found out EXCLUSIVELY that Rob Kardashian even offered to donate one of his kidneys to Lamar if he needed it. Lamar has also been struggling with his motor skills after reportedly suffering 12 strokes while in the hospital.

But Lamar continues to drastically improve. He’s getting stronger and now “walking with help,” according to a report. He’s also now making his own medical decisions. This is huge considering Lamar was once in a coma after being found unconscious on Oct. 13 in a Nevada brothel after an alleged drug overdose. Up until now, Khloe has been making all the decisions to save his life.
