Looking to darken your hair for autumn? Choosing the best new hair color isn’t always easy, but we’ve got expert advice on how to dye your hair the perfect shade of rich ‘bronde’ like Hannah Davis!
Fall is in the air! Sofia visited the Pierre Michel Salon in New York City for an amazing hair makeover. Blonde looks great in strong sunlight but can look washed out in the fall — Sofia wore her hair blonde all summer and was totally ready for a new fall look. She wanted to go super dark, but colorist Joanna Pinto had some surprising advice that you’ll want to consider for your own hair makeover!

Joanna said that since Sofia wore her hair light blonde during the summer, going completely dark would be too jarring a change. Instead, she recommended a gorgeous “bronde” style like the one that is so stunning on model and reported Derek Jeter fiancee Hannah Davis! “A change that drastic may be too much of a shock,” Joanna explained. “My professional opinion is to go deeper, but not as dark!” For a base, Joanna formulated a natural dark blonde. Sofia had allowed her roots to grow out for a few months, and her natural darker color provided a richness and reflected shine. Joanna then added thin slithers of medium golden blonde highlights, spacing and placing them strategically: “I wanted to just break up that dark blonde base, not so much to lighten it. After all, she was ready for a richer look!”
As the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to rock rich highlights. Plus, if you bleached your hair over the summer, you can ask your colorist for a golden gloss in order to build on and warm up your existing highlights. Be sure to protect and strengthen your color-treated hair with a product like Davines Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion. Just remember: you don’t need to go 100% dark for fall — you can enrich your highlights with medium golden blonde instead!
