The Kansas City Royals and the NY Mets are battling it out in Game 3 of the 2015 World Series tonight, Oct. 30, so we think it’s perfect that native New Yorker, Billy Joel, got everyone feeling good with his rendition of the National Anthem! Watch it here.
The Piano Man is exactly what we all needed at the start of Game 3 of the 2015 World Series. Billy Joel, 66, kicked things off by taking center field to sing the National Anthem on Oct. 30, and it was totally awesome! He is a longtime Mets fan, so it was awesome to see him perform. The New York Mets are up against the Kansas City Royals and we hope they can pull through for a Game 3 win!
Now, no matter who wins, both sets of fans will have at least experienced a performance that likely gave them goosebumps!
This is the third time Billy performed while the Mets were in the World Series. He sang during Game 2 of the 1986 World Series and during Game 1 of the 2000 World Series. This is the first time in 15 years, however, that the Mets have hosted a World Series game, so we hope they can pull out a win, especially since the game is being played in their own backyard.
“Now, guys are so much better mentally,” Kelly Johnson, NY Mets’ veteran infielder, says of their losing streak. “If they strike out or have a bad at-bat or a bad game, it’s over with, they’re done. They’re very confident. They come to play, they show up the next day, they wipe the slate clean and they do their work.” We really hope that this game will get the ball rolling for the Mets because they have waited years for an opportunity like this and the game is in New York! Perhaps Billy’s performance gave the Mets a magic touch.
HollywoodLifers, did you like Billy’s performance?
