D.C. Police Officer Challenges Teen To Epic Dance-Off In Hilarious Video — Watch

Well, that’s one way to cool tensions! In an attempt to break up a fight among a group of teenage girls, a D.C. police officer decided to diffuse the situation by challenging them to an EPIC dance battle. See the hilarious video here!

Show me your moves! That’s exactly what a police officer told a crowd of teenage girls after attempting to break up a fight between their two groups. Rather than turning into a scary altercation, the cop decided to challenge one of the girls, 17-year-old Aaliyah Taylor, to a dance-off set to Silentó’s Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” and the result is beyond amazing! Watch it here!

This is awesome! The police officer — who wishes to remain anonymous at this time — approached two groups of teens in the middle of confrontation on K Street SW in Washington D.C. and asked them to leave. That’s when Aaliyah, a local high-school senior, decided to challenge the cop to dance-off. Surprisingly, the officer agreed to the battle, but on one condition: if she won Taylor and her friends would have to leave the street corner, but if Taylor won, the girls would get to stay. What happened next, was an epic showdown that has since caught national attention.

“No one was worried about the argument anymore,” Taylor said. “The neighborhood was getting crowded…the attention was on us. Everyone was just looking at us.”

After about two minutes of showing off their best moves to the song “Watch me (Whip/Nae Nae),” the girls all went their separate ways peacefully. As for who actually won the battle, Aaliyah thinks the dance battle was a tie, saying the officer’s moves left her speechless.”There are good cops and bad cops, and I don’t think all cops are bad, but I never thought I’d dance with a cop,” she said. “I didn’t even know cops could be that fun.”

While the officer and The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia have denied to comment on the incident, others from the area have come out to support her response. “While I’m not an expert on the dance moves in this video, this is a great example of community policing by MPD,” the District’s deputy mayor for public safety, Kevin Donahue, tweeted on Oct. 28.

And if that’s not a happy enough ending for you already, it turns out that since the video was posted, Aaliyah has been approached by a dance company asking to record a new video of her and the officer. Though it’s unclear whether the two will reunite for another dance-off, we’re certainly hoping to see more stories like this (and a lot less of this) in the future.
