Great news! Lamar Odom has reportedly made huge strides in his recovery from his drug overdose. Though he came frighteningly close to death, Lamar’s now reportedly strong enough to talk with doctors and make his own decisions when it comes to his treatment!
When Lamar Odom, 35, lay in a coma due to his cocaine overdose, his wife, Khloe Kardashian, was tasked to make all the medical decisions needed to save his life. Well, Khloe can now take a break. While she’s still staying by Lamar’s side, the ex-NBA star is reportedly calling the shots when it comes to his recovery.
Lamar has “progressed to the point that he is communicating with doctors,” a source tells TMZ. Lamar is also “participating in decisions” about his treatment following his drug overdose. He may even be in charge of deciding whether or not his father, Joe Odom, can visit him in the hospital. Considering that there were reports that Lamar supposedly suffered irreversible brain damage while comatose, this is incredibly good news!
Because Lamar was feeling so much better, Khloe was comfortable enough to finally leave the hospital, according to TMZ’s source. Khloe ventured away from Lamar’s side for the first time since his medical emergency to attend Kim Kardashian’s baby shower. Though Khloe had a chance to enjoy herself for the first time since Lamar was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, she reportedly didn’t stay too long at the event. After making an appearance, Khloe reportedly left to return to Lamar’s hospital room.
It sounds like Lamar is continuing to “flourish” under his doctors’ care. He’s come a long way when he was barely speaking in full sentences after he woke up from his coma. No wonder Lamar thinks he may be able to return to the NBA one day.
Though Lamar is healthy enough to work with doctors on his recovery, he still has plenty of reported medical issues – including his failing kidneys. His brother in law, Rob Kardashian, has reportedly offered to give Lamar a new organ, but there are many issues that may prevent Lamar from getting the life-saving transplant he needs! Here’s hoping Lamar keeps his miraculous recovery going at this rate so he can leave the hospital as soon as possible.
