Taylor Swift’s fans have made her album ‘1989’ a massive worldwide success, so on the one-year anniversary of its release, she gifted Swifties with something special — a rare acoustic performance of the Harry Styles-inspired hit ‘Out of the Woods.’ Watch here!
It’s not every day Taylor Swift, 25, gives an intimate performance to a small group of people…and it’s even more rare that she shares footage of it with the world. Oct. 27 was a special day, though, and to celebrate the anniversary of her album, 1989, Tay gave her loyal followers a treat by sharing video from her “Out Of The Woods” acoustic performance at the Grammy Museum.
Before launching into the song, the 25-year-old details what inspired her to write it. And since we already know the track is about her ex, Harry Styles, the explanation gives us a further look into what the pair’s brief 2012 relationship was like.
“The number one feeling I felt in the relationship was anxiety,” Taylor revealed, without naming names, of course. “Because…it felt very fragile. It felt very tentative and it always felt like…okay, what’s the next roadblock? What’s the next thing thats going to deter this? How long do we have before this turns into an awful mess and we break up? Is it a month, is it three days? I think a lot of relationships can be very solid and that’s kind of what you hope for — solid and healthy — but that’s not always what you get. It doesnt mean that it’s not special and extraordinary.”
Awww, see? Even though it was short-lived and seemingly tumultuous, Tay still seems to have fond memories of her romance with the One Direction singer. And she totally evoked ALL the feels while stripping down the song, using only a piano and her voice as instruments. The ethereal rendition was a whole new take on the fan-loved tune, and we couldn’t help but notice how happy Taylor looked while singing it.
Even though it’s been three years since they dated, Haylor’s relationship has been front and center in the celeb news world lately — and it’s mostly because of 1D’s new hit “Perfect.” The song contains several references to the “Wildest Dreams” singer, and the video only added fuel to the speculation that Harry was inspired by his uber-famous ex to write the track. Awww!
Meanwhile, Taylor got to be with thousands of her fans on 1989‘s anniversary, because she performed at American Airlines Arena in Miami as part of her world tour that night. Her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, was in the audience, proudly watching the show, and Taylor had a ton of surprises up her sleeve — Ricky Martin and Pitbull surprised the crowd with performances, and Dwayne Wade also made a fun appearance on stage!
