Khloe Kardashian is opening up like never before, discussing her former ‘role’ as the ‘fat and funny’ Kardashian sister, and how much that used to upset her. Read the devastating interview.
“Okay, I’m the fat, funny sister,” Khloe Kardashian, now 31, thought when Keeping Up With the Kardashians first aired in 2007. Sadly, before the show premiered, Khloe didn’t actually feel that way about herself, however, she allowed the media to instill the idea in her mind and, as Khloe describes in a heartbreaking new interview, she began to believe it, too.
“Before the show started, I thought I was in good shape, but I guess not good enough for Hollywood’s eyes,” Khloe explained to People in a revealing new interview. “I didn’t realize I was the fat sister until I went on TV and the media started saying that about me.”
Seriously, so upsetting. Sadly, it gets even worse. “And if you hear something so many times, you start to believe it,” she added. “I just thought, ‘Okay, that’s my role.’ I started saying it before other people did. I was like, ‘Okay, I’m the fat, funny sister.'”
Though Khloe is quite a gym rat now, she explained that when people first began to talk about her weight, it actually had the adverse effect of making her want to lose weight. “I let it take ownership of me, and I didn’t feel motivated to change that perception,” she said. “In reality I wasn’t fat; I wasn’t obese. But I let society make me believe that I was.”
Well, it goes without saying (but we’re gonna say it anyway), Khloe looked amazing back then, she looks amazing now, and she looked nothing short of amazing during all the time in between. Stay strong, Khlo!
