Attention Floyd Mayweather: that’s what you call a knockout. Ronda Rousey didn’t have to step into the octagon to make history. The undefeated UFC champ became the first mixed martial arts fighter in history to appear on the cover of the legendary boxing magazine, ‘The Ring.’
Before Ronda Rousey, 38, faces Holly Holm, 34, at UFC 193, the UFC’s Women’s Bantamweight champ is already knocking them dead. The undefeated Ronda looked as flawless as her record when posed for the cover of the long-running boxing magazine, The Ring. Ronda, a MMA fighter on the front of a boxing magazine? Somebody better tell Floyd Mayweather, 38.
Ronda became just the second woman and first MMA fighter in history to appear on the front of “The Bible of Boxing,” reports SportingNews.com. Ronda, wearing a robe of black and championship gold, will be featured in the Jan. 2016 issue of the prestigious magazine, due on Nov. 15. This amazing accomplishment follows her smoking hot appearance on the front of Self magazine.
Maybe Floyd will think Ronda is on “his status” now. Probably not — Floyd has an ongoing war of words with Ronda and it’s not likely to end with her spotlight in the nearly 100-year-old boxing magazine. But, Floyd may also want to stay retired: in the photo, Ronda poses with a MMA glove on one hand and a boxing glove on the other. Is she going to trade the UFC octagon for the boxing ring?
Not yet — she has to defend her undefeated streak and Women’s Bantamweight championship again Holly at UFC 193 on Nov. 15. Holly, who Ronda calls “the best striker in MMA,” will get her shot at the gold when the UFC heads down under to Melbourne, Australia. Considering Holly is one of the greatest women’s boxers ever, this match up between “Rowdy” Ronda and “The Preacher’s Daughter” may be a fight for the ages.
Initially scheduled for the first month of 2016, the fight was bumped up, giving time for Ronda to actually accept the invitation to join US Marine Jarrod Haschert at the Marine Corp. Ball. However, Jarrod better be a proper gentleman, as Ronda has struck up a romance with fellow UFC Fighter, Travis Browne. We think Jarrod will be on his best behavior.
Congratulations to Ronda for being the first ever MMA fighter to be on the cover of The Ring. What do you think about her appearance on the cover of a boxing magazine, HollywoodLifers?
