Dissed! President Obama threw some shade at World Cup winning goalie Hope Solo when he didn’t name check her while calling out the rest of her championship teammates during a ceremony at the White House. Did her persistent legal problems make the President ignore her? Watch the video below.
The US Women’s Soccer Team arrived at the White House on Oct. 27 to be honored for their victory in the last Women’s World Cup. President Barack Obama, 54, personally called out several of the team members during a speech honoring the team, however one name was conspicuously absent from his list, starting goalie Hope Solo, 33. Was POTUS dissing the frequently arrested soccer star?
It was a day of celebration for the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team as they arrived at the White House to be honored for winning the 2014 Women’s World Cup. President Obama made a speech that honored several of the individual members by name, however he never acknowledged Hope, who helped power the team to victory with her brilliance between the posts and who won the Golden Glove award as the world’s best goalie. Despite her play on the field, her frequent arrests, including her most recent one from domestic violence, may have kept the President from individually honoring her.
Hope Solo has become as famous for her troubles off the field, as she has for her prowess on it. Her latest trouble occurred when she was arrested in 2014, alongside her husband, former NFL football player Jerramy Stevens, 35, on charges of domestic violence. The soccer star was accused of hitting her sister and teenage nephew ultimately being charged with two counts of Domestic Violence Assault 4th Degree. She appeared to be drunk at the time of the incident and yelled several profanities at the arresting officers according to a report released by the Seattle Police Department. She has had no incidents since then. Hopefully her last arrest served as a wake up call to get her life together.
