Play ball! Andy Grammer took a break from wowing the judges on ‘DWTS’ to amaze baseball fans. On Oct. 27, Andy helped kicked off the 2015 World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets, and crushed an emotional performance of The Star Spangled Banner.
Now that’s how you start a World Series. Andy Grammer, 31, opened up the first game between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals with a magnificent performance of the United States national anthem. Andy’s incredible version of the Star Spangled Banner was anything but ordinary. Let’s hear it for those pipes!
If fans weren’t already feeling excited for the Oct. 27 game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Andy’s performance left them with goosebumps! Usually the huge, soaring notes on the national anthem are reserved for the biggest of divas, but Andy can count himself in that group now! Not only did he nail every note of the notoriously difficult song, but both teams were visibly moved by his beautiful rendition.
While Andy will be singing for the Royals and the Mets, he may be rooting for neither: Andy is reportedly a fan of the Boston Red Sox! Still, since Andy grew up in Chester, New York, he might be pulling for the Mets to take the title.
Andy’s national anthem performance follows his impressive showing on Dancing With The Stars. He and Allison Holker danced the Paso Double as vampires – with “full blood, full spunk!” When he joined the other competitors for the Team event, he and the rest of Team Nightmare nailed a perfect score! After facing the pressures of switching up partners and memorizing complex dance routines, Andy didn’t sweat his performance. He made singing the national anthem at the World Series look easy.
Andy has the best tickets to watch the first game of what could be one of the best World Series in history. After losing the championship to the San Francisco Giants in 2014, the Royals are back with a vengeance. The Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays to advance to the World Series. They’re looking to be crowned kings of baseball, but have to get past the red-hot Mets.
The Mets completely swept the Chicago Cubs to make it to the finals, breaking the hearts of Chicagoans and Back To The Future fans everywhere. Back To The Future II predicted the Cubs would win the World Series in 2015, but thanks to Daniel Murphy‘s home runs, the Mets proved that it was all just a movie.
