Love Sherlock Holmes? Well, feast your eyes on this mouth-watering trailer for the upcoming special of the hit mystery series starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Click to WATCH!
Not so elementary, my dear Watson! The new Sherlock trailer is here, and it looks absolutely amazing! Benedict Cumberbatch, 39, and Martin Freeman, 44, return to their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson respectively in a whole new adventure titled Sherlock: The Abominable Bride. And it looks awesome!
The last time we saw the brilliant detective of 221b Baker Street in London, he was going head-to-head with the Napoleon of blackmail, Charles Augustus Magnussen, in “His Last Vow.” Thankfully, this time our hero didn’t have to fake his own death to defeat this villain.
Now, The Abominable Bride features Holmes and Watson returning to their Victorian setting in 1890s London investigating a ghoulish case that’ll have our favorite investigators scratching their heads, but they’ll inevitably coming up with the goods to solve the mystery.
One of the show’s creators, Steven Moffat, confirmed that Sherlock: The Abominable Bride will stand alone from the eagerly anticipated fourth season as a 90-minute special.
“The special is its own thing,” Moffat said. “We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes.”
Either way, we’re very excited about it, and we don’t have that annoying lag time for when it airs in the UK first and then get loads of spoilers. You know why? Because it airs in both countries on the same day — Jan. 1, 2016, in the U.S. on PBS! Hurrah!
Last time we saw Benedict was in a funnier setting during a skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! called “Mean Tweets.” Yes, that’s right, they read tweets that have been written about them that are just plain nasty!
In fact, Benedict’s looks were subject of one particular mean-spirited tweet. As Benedict walked through the curtain, and raised the all-important phone to read, he said, “If you find Benedict Cumberbatch attractive, I’m guessing you’d also quite enjoy staring directly at a cat’s anus.” He could barely get through the entire tweet without cracking up. However, he was able to compose himself to fire a zinger right back.
“Well someone did, and she put a ring on it,” he says lifting up his ring finger to show off that wedded bling. Ha! He’s just too funny!
