We finally have our World Series 2015 match up! The Kansas City Royals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 4-3 to become the American League National Champions for the second straight year. Congrats KC and best of luck against the mighty New York Mets!
The Kansas City Royals are headed to the World Series for the second year in a row! The Royals topped the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 to seal their latest bid as Major League Baseball’s champions. Kansas City went in to the series with a 3-2 advantage, and used game 6 to cinch their playoff run.
The Royals are now back-to-back American League Champions, but it almost didn’t happen tonight. While the Royals had a lead through the majority of the game, the Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista hit a two-run home run to left field to tie Game 6 in the 8th inning. Then, after a minor delay due to the rain, the Royals edged out the Blue Jays by one run. And it was enough to win the game!
The ALCS series has been much more evenly matched than the NLCS series, where the New York Mets demolished the Chicago Cubs in 4 straight games. It will be the first World Series appearance for the Mets since 2000.
The Royals will meet the New York Mets in the World Series, beginning Oct. 27. They will have home field advantage at Kauffman Stadium for the first two games before the Mets get home field in Game 3.
The Mets swept the Chicago Cubs in 4 straight games, sealing their National League Championship title with an 8-3 win Oct. 21 at Wrigley Field. The team, which had been written off as mediocre early in the season, has been dominant in the playoffs. After knocking off the favored Los Angeles Dodgers, they completely bulldozed the Cubs, never trailing a single inning in the four-game sweep.
