It might not be beach season any longer, but celebrities like Kim Kardashian prove you can keep your golden tan without the sun thanks to self-tanners. Get the how-to on keeping your bronzed glow all year.

Now is the time of the year when your summer tan starts to quickly disappear. But if you like holding onto that golden glow, you’re not alone. Kim Kardashian is always spray tanned to perfection, and you can use self-tanners at home to keep your golden glow, too.

Prep Work: Before you get to tanning, you need to make sure skin is smooth by exfoliating beforehand (especially since skin gets drier as the weather turns colder). Use a body scrub like Fresh Cocoa Body Exfoliant in the shower, which will buff away dead skin cells while moisturizing with cocoa butter and coconut oil. Then post-shower, make sure you add a few drops of body lotion to dry areas like your feet, elbows and knees to avoid streaking.

Self-Tanners: If you have time to slowly build up your tan, you can use St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan, which you apply like a body wash in the shower and let sit for several minutes before rinsing off. After several days of daily use, you’ll have a subtle, healthy glow. If it’s a darker look you’re after, try James Read Express Bronzing Mousse, which is a rich tan color that shows up as you apply so you won’t miss any spots or wind up looking streaky. If your face is more sensitive, use a tanner specifically developed for the delicate area like Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads, which exfoliate as they leave behind a glow.

Quick Fixes: If you don’t have time to tan your whole body, you can still give your face a golden boost with Vita Liberata Self Tanning Bronzer, which lets you build up a healthy glow that will last even after your makeup is removed. Plus, you can use it at your cheekbones to create a natural contour effect.

Do you keep up with self-tanning in the cooler seasons, HollywoodLifers?
