Whoa. Justin Bieber released his apologetic new track ‘Sorry,’ and it appears to referenced his ex love, Selena Gomez, in more than a few ways. What do you think?
Justin Bieber is back! The 21-year-old pop star released his new single “Sorry” on October 22 and it’s even better than we expected! Still, the question remains: was it inspired by his roller coaster relationship with Selena Gomez, 23? Everything from the constant I’m sorrys to his pleading for a “second chance,” seem to suggest that she was indeed his muse for the breakup song. Listen to it here! Try as they might, Justin and Selena always seem to come back to each other, so it doesn’t seem too far off that “Sorry” might have something to do with their back-and-forth relationship, right? Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder as we now have the song’s lyrics to inform us. As we previously suggested, the lyrics seem to point directly to the Biebs tumultuous on-again-off-again relationship with Selena. Case-in-point, this verse: “I know you know that I/made those mistakes maybe once or twice/And by once or twice I mean/may maybe a couple a hundred times.”
Now, is that a Jelena reference, or what?! Though the two remain separated, it’s clear that Justin still harbors some pain and regret over how things ended between them. At one point, he even sings: “I’ll take every single piece the blame/If you want me too/But you know you can’t play the beautiful saint in this game for two/I’ll go, I’ll go and then/You go you go on and spill the truth/ Can we both say the words and just forget this.” As you might recall, Selena famously became fed up with Justin because of his notorious bad boy behavior, and yet, even when they seemed to grow apart and run in different circles, they always managed to find their way back to each other.
In fact, the two even reunited as recently as Oct. 17 when they sent shockwaves around the world with the release of a surprise duet entitled, “Strong.” In the song, Justin and Selena seem to reference a love they once shared, while reflecting on their past romance. Oddly enough, the pair actually recorded the song while they were still dating years ago, and never even meant for it to get out to the public. However, HollywoodLife.com later EXCLUSIVELY learned that the whole release was actually very calculated.
“They were all well aware at the time of recording that if they did do a duet, chances are it would be picked up in some way or another,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com. “They also knew they were both going to be releasing albums in 2015, so a duet with each other would help them get more exposure if it was leaked at around the time of both of their releases.” Touche Jelena. Touche.
