Lamar Odom’s family is showing their love for Khloe Kardashian as she supports her husband during his difficult recovery following a reported drug overdose. After the former NBA star underwent two emergency surgeries, he and Khloe need all the love they can get.

The family of Lamar Odom, has released a statement about the 35-year-old basketball player’s medical condition, while making sure to compliment his wife Khloe Kardashian, 31, as well. Lamar suffered a serious setback on Oct. 22, undergoing two emergency surgeries. The only person allowed in the hospital room with him at the moment is Khloe. But it’s clear that his family is nearby and monitoring his condition.

“As a family, we will remain united in our love and devotion to Lamar’s health and well being. Again, that is our NUMBER ONE priority,” Lamar’s maternal aunt JaNean Mercer said in a statement to People magazine. “In SINCERELY loving Lamar, we truly love and respect whomever he loves. We always have and will continue to do so. Together as a team, we will support and encourage him always.” It’s great to see all of Lamar’s family and loved ones coming together to help him through this health crisis.

The family did make it clear that at the time of the release, Lamar’s condition was improving. “To our overwhelming delight, Lamar’s courageous improvement continues on the incline in Los Angeles,” JaNean says. “He is beginning to gradually flourish both mentally and physically. His use of speech has increased and he’s more cognitively responsive. His medical team has executed an aggressive therapy regimen to aid in his progress.”

Unfortunately things took a downward turn for the former NBA star after the family released the statement. TMZ reported that he underwent two emergency surgeries on his chest Oct. 22. It’s unknown if they were connected to his lungs or heart, which both suffered damage following his reported overdose.

Lamar is now receiving care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The hospital offer world-class medical care and has some of the top doctors in the country on its staff. We’re sure that they will do everything possible to help Lamar recover from his scary near death medical crisis that left him comatose for 3 days. He’s continuing his battle with failing kidneys and a respiratory infection. He’s also undergoing numerous medical tests to assess his condition.

HollywoodLifers, are you glad that Khloe and Lamar called off their divorce?
