Get well soon, Lamar Odom! The NBA champion has made huge strides in his recovery from his coma, but he still has a long way to go before he’s completely better. His kidneys are still having problems and according to a new report, Lamar now has trouble breathing!
Lamar Odom, 35, pulled off a miracle when he woke up from his near-fatal coma. He may need another one to deal with all his lingering health issues. Among his reported organ failures, the former Los Angeles Lakers star is allegedly now has an infection! Despite his amazing turn-around, there are still “many questions” over Lamar’s future.
Lamar is “doing okay,” a source tells People magazine, but that doesn’t mean he’s better. He’s still reportedly so weak that he “still can’t stand up alone. He has to be helped to a chair right by his bed,” the source also said. Plus, Lamar is taking antibiotics for a reported “respiratory infection.” On top of all that, he’s still reportedly on dialysis!
Despite receiving the “best medical treatment possible,” the source tells People, but “there are still many questions about what will happen [to Lamar] in the future.” Lamar is still really sick, and is though he’s talking a little bit, a source told Us Weekly that he’s still not using full sentences. Still, there’s plenty of hope that Lamar can recover as best as he can, and that the constant dialysis will help him and he won’t have to undergo surgery!
Lamar remains under constant care at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California. He transferred there from Vegas’s Sunrise Hospital on Oct. 19, arriving by helicopter with Khloe Kardashian by his side. His wife hasn’t left him since she rushed to his hospital room after finding out about his alleged overdose.
That’s not going to change anytime soon! Khloe is going to be closer to Lamar than his shadow during his recovery period. Not only did she and Lamar call off their divorce, but she’s also accompanying him for every test. Khloe is even turning her home into a rehab center for Lamar once he gets dismissed from the hospital.
Even when Lamar overcomes his infections and kidney issues, he still won’t be healthy until he kicks his alleged drug problems. “Given Lamar Odom’s traumatic past and extensive history of drug abuse, he needs inpatient residential care,” Robert Weiss, an addiction specialist with Elements Behavioral Health, EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. Robert said that even if L.O. makes a full recovery, he needs to go to rehab or he may just end back up in the hospital — or worse!
