Benghazi: Committee Called A Sham Meant To Destroy Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign

Elijah Cummings has had enough of the Benghazi committee! On Oct. 22, the U.S. Representative accused the Republican-led investigation into the 2012 attacks of being a fraud and that the committee’s only concerned with ruining Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign!

No matter how hard she tries, Hillary Clinton, 67, can not escape the scandal over the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. The attack left four Americans dead and, what seems to be, an endless supply of questions from Republicans. Hillary returned to Washington to testify before the U.S. Benghazi committee again, but not before Rep. Elijah Cummings, 64, called the entire investigation a political witch hunt!

“It is time…for Republicans to end this taxpayer-funded fishing expedition,” Elijah said during the Oct. 22 meeting of Hillary Clinton and the U.S. House Benghazi committee, reports the New York Times. Elijah, a Democrat, was tired of the Republican political theatre and he came to Hillary’s defense.

“Clearly,” the Maryland representative said, “it is possible to conduct a serious, bipartisan investigation” into the attacks, reports Huffington Post. However, Elijah thinks it’s impossible because “Republicans are squandering millions of taxpayer dollars on this abusive effort to derail Secretary Clinton’s presidential campaign.”

Burn! This isn’t the first time the Benghazi investigation has been accused of being an anti-Hillary operation. Major Brad Podliska, an Air Force Reserve intelligence officer, said that he was fired from the investigation when for not focusing on Hill Dog’s role in the attack, according to CNN. Plus, Kevin McCarthy made comments about how the Republicans “put together Benghazi special committee” to make Hillary look “untrustable.” These remarks are reportedly why he suddenly pulled out of the vote to replace John Boehner as Speaker of the House.

On Sept. 11, 2012, Islamic militants attached the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi. U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA contractors – Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty — were killed.

Republicans have led the investigation into whether Hillary, who was Secretary of State at the time, failed in her duty of protecting those American lives. Republicans asked if Hillary failed to take steps in preventing the attack or if she didn’t follow through on requests for additional security equipment and personnel.

A 2014 report by the committee found that the Obama administration and it officials did nothing wrong. There wasn’t an intelligence failure and there was no delay in sending a rescue team, according to CBS News.

Do you agree with Rep. Elijah Cummings, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the Benghazi committee is a sham meant to hurt Hillary?
