Move over, Ryan Adams. Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley may now have the best Taylor Swift cover! While stopping by ‘The View,’ Martin put his own spin on ‘Bad Blood’ and dedicated the song to his political rival, Hillary Clinton! Click to watch!
Martin O’Malley, 52, made it clear where he stands on one of the most important issues of the day: Is he team Taylor Swift, 25, or team Katy Perry, 30? When he was on The View, Martin clearly went after the Swifties vote. He busted out his guitar to perform “Bad Blood” after saying the song was going out to Hillary Clinton, 67! “Katy Perry, I’m told, is doing a benefit concert for one of my opponents in Iowa,” Martin said during his Oct. 20 appearance, reports E! News. Martin seemed a bit annoyed that the “Roar” singer was raising money for Hillary in Des Moines on Oct. 24. “So, in response,” Martin said while strapping on an acoustic guitar, “I thought I’d offer this up for Taylor Swift.”
From there, Martin sang his own rendition of “Bad Blood,” the ultimate Katy diss song. He did a good job. Even Candace Cameron-Bure jumped in for the “HEY!” part. Impressive! Not only could Martin play the song, but also it seemed like he’s been keeping up on the latest development in the Katy-Taylor blood feud.
Earlier in the interview, the ladies of The View revealed that Martin had played in an Irish folk-rock band in high school. It seems he’s been practicing since then. Sure, he may have stumbled a bit, but he recovered and ended on a strong note. We have to wonder how Hillary will respond? Hill Dog’s close with Taylor’s friend, Kanye West, so perhaps Yeezy could give advice to a fellow presidential candidate.
As for Martin, while he may not be the next member to join TayTay’s squad, maybe can expand on his foreign policy by negotiating a peace treaty between Taylor and Harry Styles of One Direction? Or perhaps if his presidential run doesn’t work out, he can open up for fellow-Taylor Swift cover artist, Ryan Adams, when he goes on tour.
If Martin nabs the Democratic presidential nomination, he might want to think about picking Selena Gomez as his running mate. When Selena was grilled over the Taylor-Katy feud during the Oct. 18 episode of Watch What Happens Live, she handled it like a natural politician! Maybe we’ll see Kanye-Selena in 2020?
What do you think about Martin’s cover of “Bad Blood,” HollywoodLifers? Did he win your vote?
