Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders made James Woods mad — REAL mad! The Vermont Senator criticized the United States for not requiring employers to offer paid maternity leave unlike, China. This did not sit well with the actor who lashed out at Bernie.
James Woods, 68, took to Twitter on Oct. 19 to slam a tweet sent by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The actor made it clear he did NOT agree with Bernie’s statement claiming the United States needs to be more like China.
On Oct. 19, Bernie tweeted the following: “China – not exactly seen as a model when it comes to human rights – provides 14 weeks of paid maternity leave. The US provides zero.” Well, that didn’t sit well with a lot of people, especially James. He followed it up with a snarky reply directly to the Senator.
James wrote, “China has notoriously killed female infants for population control, you utter moron. #ChinaGendercide.” China’s maternity leave benefits were made mandatory in 2011. Women are allowed 14 weeks paid maternity leave, plus 15 days if the mother has an unplanned caesarean section and another 15 days per child if she has multiple births. But, and here is the big but — China still works under the extremely controversial “one-child policy” law.
Fans Side With James & Lash Out:
James wasn’t the only American disgusted by Bernie’s statement. A large amount of Twitter followers sent the Senator some harsh words of wisdom.
What's China's policy on paid maternity leave if you already have a baby? Oh, that's right: forced abortion. https://t.co/hGDuqLo2eg
