Lamar Odom Will Need Help To Walk & Talk After Severe Damage Done To Body

Lamar Odom may be recovering day by day, but he still has a long road ahead of him. In fact, doctors are reportedly telling the ex-NBA star’s family that, even after months of therapy and rehab to help him relearn to walk and talk, the damage done to his body will likely be permanent.

It’s a miracle to see how well Lamar Odom is doing after an alleged drug overdose and days in a coma, but there’s still lot of work to be done when it comes to his recovery. The 35-year-old will have to spend months in rehab learning to walk and talk again, and the affect on his body could possibly last forever, according to a new report. To hear more about Lamar Odom, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

Although he’s reportedly already walked and said a few words, suffering from several strokes and brain damage has obviously taken a toll on the former Lakers star. Doctors have reportedly told his family and loved ones that he’ll have to spend months in rehab working with numerous therapists to help with his speech, physical movements and more, according to TMZ.

Luckily, Lamar has a great support system for the entire ordeal. Khloe Kardashian, 31, has been by his side since he was hospitalized in Nevada on Oct. 13, and she isn’t planning on going anywhere any time soon. The reality star has vowed to stay with her estranged husband as his road to recovery continues, and, as HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY reported, she’s even considered changing her mind about her decision to divorce the love of her life (although they signed divorce papers, the pair are still legally married until a judge signs off on the split, which could take 2-4 months). “Khloe’s in this for the long haul,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She’s not thought of moving from Lamar’s bedside.” The former basketball player woke up from his coma on Oct. 16, but still doesn’t know the full extent of what happened to him and how severe his situation is.

“Neither Khloe or any of Lamar’s family have told him exactly why he’s in the hospital,” a source told us EXCLUSIVELY. “Now is just not the time to tell him the awful and embarrassing way he’s laying in that bed. That would be bad news, and everyone only wants good news flowing through Lamar’s head. Lamar can hear Khloe and understands everything she’s saying, but she doesn’t want him to slip back into begin depressed by telling him why he’s there.”
