Just when it seemed like Lamar Odom might not pull through, he took a turn for the better. Many people believe his ex, Khloe Kardashian, staying by his side helped, but ‘The View’s’ Candace Cameron Bure argues that religion is what did the trick.
Devout Christian, Candace Cameron Bure, 39, thinks it’s “incredible” how a higher power helped Lamar Odom, 35, recover from his drug overdose. She opened up about the “power of prayer” on the October 19 episode of The View — do YOU agree with the talk show host? Did religion play a part in the NBA player’s recovery? See exactly what she said and let us know what you think!
“There are so many people praying for him,” Candace said. “It’s the power of prayer and I hope he recognizes that too. It’s incredible.” The conversation then transitioned to a discussion about a football coach at Bremerton High School in Washington state, who defied orders and prayed on the field after a game.
“Separation of church and state does not mean that we cannot pray publicly,” she said. “It actually guarantees our free expression of religion. So if it is voluntary, we are allowed to pray wherever we would like to.”
Lamar’s aunt, JaNean Mercer, also seems to think that religion is playing a part in his recovery. “Lamar has always been blessed with a tenacious, fighting spirit, overcoming insurmountable obstacles to achieve the impossible. These past few days have been no different. He is defying the odds in his toughest battle to date with GOD’s grace,” she said in a statement to Us Weekly.
“Khloe never broke up with Lamar because she fell out of love with him,” The View‘s Sherri Shepard added while on the topic. “It was just those personal demons that Lamar Odom had. Khloe tried to stay in there as long as she could. He had these personal demons that got the best of them and broke that relationship up. I love that Khloe knows she has a way with Lamar, she has a way to inspire Lamar. Kudos to Khloe, that’s the power of a woman. You go, girl.”
