So heartbreaking. As Lamar Odom’s condition remains critical, doctors are preparing Khloe Kardashian for every outcome, including the ‘worst’ case scenario if he does wake up: that he will be impaired both physically and may be brain dead.
Despite some slight improvement, Lamar Odom, 35, has not woken up from his coma, which is not a good sign, according to doctors. In fact, they are preparing his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, 31, for the possibility that, if Lamar does wake up, he will not be the same man he was, due to the multiple strokes he has had since being found unconscious on Oct. 13. Sadly, with each minute that Lamar remains unconscious, he grows more and more likely to suffer longterm physical and mental impairment. We have the devastating details.
“Doctors have indicated to the family that the longer Lamar remains unresponsive, the less likely he may have normal brain function if and when he wakes up,” according to E! News, who spoke with a hospital source. Unfortunately, the family has also been told to prepare for “everything,” which includes a longterm stay in the hospital, as well as disability so extreme that it will inhibit Lamar’s ability to speak, walk and swallow.”
If Lamar’s coma does in fact turn into a long-term state, he will be transferred from the Sunrise hospital in Las Vegas, where he has been receiving treatment, to a different facility which focuses on rehabilitation care that is less emergency-oriented.
Because Lamar and Khloe are still legally married, Khloe will be the one to decide which facility Lamar should be transferred to, as well as several other daunting medical decisions pertaining to her ex.
However, Khloe will cross that bridge when she gets to it, and in the meantime, she and the rest of her family continue to stand by Lamar’s side, and pray for his recovery.
