It has become one of the most interesting cases of family drama. A woman from Manhattan tried to sue her young nephew for accidentally breaking her wrist at his eighth birthday party. Now, her and the boy are speaking out on the case — WATCH!
The dubbed, “Aunt From Hell”, Jennifer Connell, 54, who tried and failed to sue her nephew Sean Tarala, 12, for breaking her wrist, wants us all to hear her side of the story. She went on the Today show to explain what REALLY happened in court when she tried getting $127,000 from her nephew.
It wasn’t what we all thought, she isn’t so bad after all. Jennifer claims that the lawsuit was simply an insurance “formality” to help cover her outstanding medical costs and it wasn’t meant to be blown out of proportion. “We love each other very much,” she told the host Savannah Guthrie. “This was simply a formality with an insurance claim.”
Tarala also chimed in and stood up for his aunt. He came to her defense by saying, “She would never do anything to hurt the family or myself,” the now 12-year-old boy stated. “She loves us.” Okay, now we all should feel awful for jumping to conclusions. Jennifer also claimed that she wasn’t very comfortable with it at first. “It sounded terrible to me from the very beginning,” she stated. “This was simply a case of formality with an insurance claim. I said at the start of this, ‘I don’t understand why. I don’t want to sue Sean.'”
Jennifer also addressed how tough it was to deal with the media. “It was a complete shock to me…it was sort of heartbreaking and really painful but also like walking into a film of someone else’s life and I hadn’t been briefed,” she said. “So, I’ve sort of just been in shock since that happened.”
Her sweet nephew wanted us all to know, “I love her and she loves me.”
