Master P Slams Kobe Bryant: You Could Have Saved Lamar Odom — Watch

With Lamar Odom fighting for his life in a coma, it's time for those who love him to come together and support him -- not play the blame game. Unfortunately, Master P has done just that when he publicly slammed Kobe Bryant, claiming the basketball star could've saved Lamar, and insisting he only showed up to visit the hospital for publicity. Kobe Bryant, 37, rushed to Lamar Odom's side the second he learned his friend was comatose...but Master P, 48, is making it clear that he thinks the L.A. Lakers star had ulterior motives. In a major rant to the paparazzi, the rapper claims Kobe is not L.O's true friend, and even goes as far as saying he could've been the one to save Khloe Kardashian's ex.

The Father-In-Law

“It’s a sad situation. A sad situation. I was like a mentor to him and it’s just sad to see what’s going on,” Master P told photographers. “The truth of the matter is…so many phony and fake people are out there now. It goes to show when something happens to you: Everybody’s your friend, everybody loves you. But, was that true? I don’t think so. You know what I’m saying?” (CLICK TO WATCH VIDEO OF MASTER P’S RANT).

When asked if he was referring to the Kardashian family, who have all flown to Nevada to be with Lamar, even though Khloe filed for divorce in Dec. 2013, the 48-year-old instead said he was actually referencing Kobe. “All this man wanted to do was play basketball,” Master P said of Lamar. “Kobe was his friend — Kobe owned the team. He could’ve gotten the man back on the team — that’s what [Lamar] wanted. Even on that situation, I think he was just searching for love. His biggest problem was…where the people at that he showed love to? He has a big heart. It’s phony, man.”

After winning two championships with the L.A. Lakers, Lamar was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, which, as we EXCLUSIVELY reported was a big part of the 35-year-old’s downfall. After a season with the Mavs and one with the Clippers, alleged drug use and a DUI, not to mention his relationship problems, took Lamar’s head out of the game. He seemingly improved earlier this year and was working hard to get back in shape, and it looks like Master P was of the belief that Kobe should’ve stepped up and helped get him back on the Lakers, so maybe he wouldn’t have suffered this tragic fake.

“It looked like [publicity],” the rapper added, of Kobe visiting Lamar in the hospital. “I come from the streets, I keep it real. If you were my friend, if you cared about me that much…why didn’t you get him into training camp? They should’ve been there, if you loved him. They should’ve helped him out – he was a hell of a player. I think he should’ve been at least the 8th man on the Lakers this season.”

Sadly, this is not the time to be placing blame…because things are just getting worse for Lamar. The entire Kardashian family has gathered by Lamar’s side and are “praying for a miracle,” as his major organs are failing and doctors have given a 50/50 shot at recovery. Khloe even flew the ex-NBA star’s young kids out to be with their dad as he remains unconscious after being found passed out in a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13, and things are so serious, Kim Kardashian, 34, even canceled her baby shower.
