When dragons meet Daleks: Maisie Williams will cameo on sci-fi cult fave ‘Doctor Who’, and we couldn’t be more excited. The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress will star as a Viking girl — watch the promo right here!
Maisie Williams, 18, will guest star on Doctor Who on Oct. 17 in “The Girl Who Died”. It’s the first of a thrilling two-part episode where we’ll see the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) train a band of Vikings — including Ashildre, Maisie’s character — to defend themselves in the face of a dangerous army. Check out the riveting sneak peek!
Whovians will find the scene pretty familiar for the show — a wall closes in on the group of heroes, and they have only seconds to escape — you know, the usual jaw-clenching DW stuff. Still, it’s riveting enough, and fun to see Clara work together with Maisie’s viking to save everyone. Catch up on Doctor Who with a free trial of Amazon Prime!
Maisie is super pumped about her spot on the popular BBC show. “I didn’t know much about it, but I knew they were introducing a new character to work closely with the Doctor. I’d got through [reading] the second episode and absolutely loved it! I was going to do a tape but ran out of time because I was in America shooting another film, so my agent worked really hard and sent over lots of clips and videos — they liked them and gave me the role,” she told BBC America.
Plus, she totally fangirled over the Doctor: “Peter [Capaldi] has been such a joy to work with. My brother was so excited when he heard I got the part, as was I. He’s a wonderful, wonderful actor and I couldn’t wait to meet him. He totally lived up to my expectations and I love that!” She’s also been bonding with her new costar, Jenna: “I’ve been questioning Jenna — ‘Why are you in a space suit?, what’s going on here?, have we met this person before?, does this link back to a previous episode?’ — anything I can find out. It has been really exciting working on it and I’m so glad to be a part of it now,” Maisie gushed.
