This is not cool. A freshman football player for the Florida Gators has been arrested for allegedly firing a gun at his pregnant girlfriend.
Deiondre Porter, 19, was arrested on Wednesday, October 14, after being accused of shooting his handgun in the direction of his unidentified pregnant girlfriend. This terrifying incident occurred just 24 hours after the defensive back held the same gun to her head, demanding to know whether or not the pregnant woman had been unfaithful. So scary.
The violent incident in which Deiondre allegedly fired his loaded gun at his pregnant girlfriend actually happened on Sept. 29, but apparently she was too afraid to involve police until Oct. 14 when he was taken into custody.
“She was dealing with a UF football player and was honestly terrified to come to the police department,” Gainesville Police Department officer Ben Tobias said after Deiondre was arrested, reports PEOPLE. When the apartment was searched, a bullet hole was in fact found near the doorway, as well as a .42 caliber shell.
Deiondre is being held on bail set at $160,000, and he has been charged aggravated battery, firing a weapon/missile into a dwelling, vehicle or building, damaging property/criminal mischief and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, claims the report. He has also been suspended “indefinitely” from his football team.
“He’s no longer with the football team,” coach Jim McElwain said. “He is suspended indefinitely for obviously a choice, his choice not to be with us.” Ouch.
