Bernie Sanders vowed to battle corporate greed and defend millions of families ‘struggling’ to make ends meet. The presidential candidate appeared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Oct. 15 and promised he’ll stop the billionaires currently hurting America’s middle class! Click to watch.
“Bernie-mania” hit The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, 74, took a break from campaigning to talk with Ellen DeGeneres, 57. But, it wasn’t long before Bernie’s thoughts turned towards the American middle class. Bernie said he and the rest of the country’s leaders need to defend those “struggling” against the corporate greed of billionaires!
Ellen was “Feeling The Bern” when the Vermont senator stopped by her show. In his interview, airing on the Oct. 15 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bernie was asked why the American middle class was disappearing, despite it being one of the wealthiest countries on earth.
“Let me give you my opinion,” Bernie said. “What we’re up against is – you would think that if one was making billions of dollars, that might be enough to take care of your family and your kids, right? But…in corporate America today, you have incredible greed.” Bernie said that the top 1% of the nation continue to “want more and more.”
Bernie pointed out that “multi-billionaires” are financing candidates to do their bidding. The wealthy want to “cut social security,” Bernie said. “You talk about health care for all? They want to throw millions of people off of health care and repeal the Affordable Care Act.” Bernie also was one of the only candidates who mentioned Donald Trump, a billionaire who’s RUNNING for president, during the first Democratic presidential debate.
While on Ellen, Bernie said that billionaires and “small government” republicans want to “cut nutrition programs at a time when millions of families are struggling to put food on the table.” Bernie said that this kind of “greed mentality” is what he and his campaign is “fighting,” and that he will continue to defend ordinary Americans as president! See everything Bernie says when he appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Oct. 15.
Not only will Bernie fight the out-of-control greed of America’s billionaires, he’ll fight for the country to provide paid pregnancy leave. Bernie addressed all moms and mothers-to-be during the Oct. 13 debate. “We’re not going to separate you from your newborn baby,” said Bernie, “because we’re going to have paid medical and family leave like any other country on earth.” He said that the U.S. not providing extended parental leave is “an international embarrassment.”
